Community celebrates Pride Day 2026 in Gulfport

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- There was no shortage of energy on the Gulfport waterfront over the weekend as a large crowd gathered for the 2026 Pride Day Festival at Jones Park.

Festivalgoers spent the day eating, shopping, and taking in all the entertainment Pride Day had to offer.

Live bands and drag performances kept the crowd engaged, while the king and queen crowning ceremony served as one of the day’s big highlights.

Food and merchandise vendors filled the park and families took advantage of face painting and children’s activities, especially the splash pad.  Neighbors Tap and Table Owner Matthew Bounds said, “Pride Month to me is about getting together. I’m super comfortable about who I am, but they’re some people who aren’t, and it’s really nice to just show up and show people how many people are out there that might be like them. Just show them that there’s a place for them. Gulfport has welcomed us with arms wide open. Barksdale Pavilion was a perfect location this year. It’s just so fun to get together with our community here and welcome everyone.”

Organizers say the festival continues to be a chance for the community to come together, enjoy the Coast’s waterfront, and make lasting memories with friends and family.
