Coastal Mississippi prepares for summer tourism surge

With summer now in full swing across South Mississippi, beaches, attractions, and restaurants are preparing for an influx of visitors.

Coastal Mississippi Director of Communications and Engagement Pattye Meagher said, “Coastal Mississippi is a fantastic summer destination for everyone. So, whether you’re in one of our neighboring communities or upstate Mississippi or coming from our neighboring states, we’re really great value this summer, especially for families on a budget. Lots of things to do and to see for all ages. I always say that we have a hotel room for every price point and we have a bite for every taste bud.”

We’re just weeks away from one of the busiest weekends of the summer on the Fourth of July. This year, those celebrations carry even more meaning as communities also begin marking America 250, the lead up to the nation’s 250th birthday. “We have beautiful summer weather. I know it’s a little rainy right now, but even still. If you come down for the weekend, we have wonderful things to do. There’s lots of things to do. When the weather is beautiful, we want everyone to be outside on the water. It’s just so many great things to see and explore.”

Summer remains one of the busiest travel periods of the year, providing a major boost to local businesses and the hospitality industry. “For whatever you’re looking for, the best resource is always going to be coastalmississippi.com. We’re going to be celebrating America’s 250 here in a few weeks. I know all of our communities across the Coast are working so hard to put together really fun programs and days outside for all of our visitors and all of our locals. So, follow us on social @playcoastalmississippi for everything up to the date latest announcements.”
