Local shops prepare for National Donut Day

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- Many businesses are preparing for a busy day Friday as customers get ready to celebrate National Donut Day.

The annual sweet holiday brings donut lovers through the doors of bakeries and shops across the Coast, with many businesses offering special deals and giveaways.

From free treats to gift cards, many stores are finding creative ways to mark the occasion.

News 25 spoke with Theresa Mohler, the owner of Tatonut, to see how they plan on celebrating and what promotions customers can expect. “We normally do raffles and giveaways for our customers that come in and see us. Recently, we’ve been bringing back some of our most popular donuts of the month. So, we’ll have some specialties that aren’t offered on a daily basis. We’re so excited about National Donut Day. It’s grown every year. We look forward to it, but it’s kind of a mental and physical challenge for us. We’re busy a lot of the days out of the year, but this day takes some preparation and planning.”

Donut lovers will have plenty of opportunities to take part in the celebration as the holiday gets underway.
