Florida man arrested after beachfront chase in Waveland

WAVELAND, Miss. (WXXV)-Waveland police say a Florida man is facing multiple charges after leading officers on a short chase along the beach.
Police say an officer tried to pull over a Jeep traveling 44 miles per hour in a 25 mile per hour zone on South Beach Boulevard Tuesday night.
That’s when the man drove onto the sand beach, continued for several hundred feet, and eventually got stuck.
The driver, 41-year-old Harley Leamon of Tallahassee, Florida then tried to run on foot before being taken into custody.
A search of Leamon’s vehicle also turned up methamphetamine and THC products.
He’s now charged with felony fleeing, reckless driving, drug possession, resisting arrest, and several other offenses.
Leamon is now awaiting extradition back to Florida to face charges on warrants there.
