Summer season officially underway at Charlie’s U-Pik in Wiggins

WIGGINS, Miss. (WXXV)- Fresh-picked veggies and family fun are back on the Gulf Coast. Charlie’s U-Pik is open for the 2026 summer season, inviting visitors to grab a bucket and harvest their own fresh produce straight from the field.

Summer on the Coast means one thing: u-pik season is back at Charlie’s U-Pik.

The farm reopened its gates last week, welcoming families and gardeners to pick fresh vegetables right at the source.

This season, all u-pik vegetables are priced at $12 per five-gallon bucket, letting customers fill up on a variety of fresh, locally grown produce while enjoying the outdoors. Wiggins Manager Courtney Tillman said, “This is our first week back for our summer season, the summer season only runs through 4th of July. Our hours are Monday through Saturday 6 to 6. In our u-pik field we have a variety of hot peppers and sweet peppers, plenty of tomatoes, peas, butter beans, onions, squash, zucchini and then we will have a large variety under our retail building of basically the same plus some extra. We do have a blackberry field this year. That’s our new addition; it is just open it depends on the weather and how they are picked over. So, we will post those schedules on our Facebook and website. And our cut flower field is new this year and you’ll come up front and take a wagon ride to the back so you can cut the flowers.”

For many visitors, the experience is about more than just bringing home fresh vegetables. It’s a chance to connect with local agriculture and see firsthand where their food comes from. “Honestly, I think people keep coming back because it is a fun place to be. They can pick their own produce and flowers, bring their families, spend some time outside plus everything is fresh and there is always something different growing, so every visit is a little different.”
