Expert on “Why Teens Kill” hosts seminar in Biloxi

Experts say there are five teen killings a day, a statistic making it crucial for the community to learn how to better stop violence among teens.
A national expert on “Why Teens Kill” led a seminar all about how to recognize the triggers and signs of teenage violence this morning at the community center in Biloxi. The event was part of the annual state-wide D.A.R.E. training conference.
Some of the things the expert advised the crowd to be on the lookout for were triggers and warning signs a teenager commonly shows before killing. Teen Violence Expert Phil Chalmers said, “If we are unprepared when something like this happens, people die. Kids die. You’ve seen the incidents at Columbine, Virginia Tech, and New Town. When people are not really prepared or ready, it could be very bad. A mass casualty, Orlando and all these events so we’re just trying to help people understand the warning signs so we can stop these events from happening.”
The expert says the top three things killers are worried about when entering a home are if a home owner has a dog, a gun, or if the home owner has a security system.
