Stone County EMA, MDEQ team up to host Hazardous Waste Day

STONE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Stone County residents will have a chance to safely dispose of household waste this weekend.

The Stone County Emergency Management Agency is partnering with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality to host a free household hazardous waste collection day Saturday, May 30.

The event runs from 8 a.m. until noon at the Stone County Rubbish Collection Site.

Residents can bring items such as old paint, batteries, pesticides, cleaning chemicals, motor oil, antifreeze, and other hazardous household products for proper disposal.

Residents are reminded not to bring explosive materials, radioactive materials, medical waste, 55-gallon drums, or waste generated by businesses.
