Southern Strike 15 Military Exercise Held on Coast

For the next two weeks, the Mississippi Coast will be the site of several battles between opposing forces.

The battles are simulated and the enemies fictional, but that doesn’t stop military branches from around the country from participating in Southern Strike 15. The battle between the People’s Bayou Republic, or P.B.R. for short, and Rebelania has been escalating swiftly over the last few weeks and reached a tipping point Wednesday night.

The local 815th Air Squadron, also known as the Flying Jennies, is working with the 106th Special Operations Aviation Regiment to insert special forces paratroopers and critical supplies onto the battlefield in an effort to turn the tides of this pivotal battle. That was a dramatic interpretation of what will be going on in south Mississippi for the next few weeks. Military branches will be working with local forces to provide realistic combat training in a multi-national environment.

These "games" are bringing close to an additional 1,000 service men and women to the Coast, with another 400 from nearby bases joining in on any given day. With continued training, the U.S. military will be ready to act swiftly in the event they are called on for a real life mission, and local forces will be ready to assist.
