Lawsuit filed against two local sheriff’s departments in 2023 death
A lawsuit has been filed against the Jackson County and George County sheriff’s departments relating to a 2023 death.
Michael Roy Carney died the morning of May 3rd, 2023 during an incident that happened at the intersection of Broome School Road and Jordon Road.
The lawsuit is being filed by the mother of Carney’s son, saying a military vehicle was used to ram Carney’s truck.
The lawsuit also accuses law enforcement of shooting Carney 17 times even though he never shot at them.
It was filed on May 1 of this year in the district court for the southern district.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation completed their investigation and found no wrongdoing.
