Eagles Under the Oaks Raises Thousands

Local golfers were swinging for a good cause at the Oaks Golf Course in Pass Christian today. Everyone walked away a winner, including our own wounded veterans living right here in South Mississippi.
Hundreds of golfers hit the green today for the fifth annual Eagles under the Oaks Charity Golf Tournament put on by Keesler Federal Credit Union.
Today’s event rolled in more than $20,000 which will go right back into our community to help our local wounded veterans.
This is the biggest fundraiser of the year for the Combat Wounded Veterans of South Mississippi, a non-profit group that serves veterans right here in our community.
Mississippi Combat Wounded Veterans Executive Director Roger Sibley said, “Too many of our vets are coming back and struggling with PTSD and other diseases that affect them and their ability to hold jobs down. It’s just a way of stepping in and helping out.”
Keesler Federal Credit Union President John Goff said, “It’s a great cause. I see this tournament continuing to grow and expand and contribute to these needed men and women.”
Each year, golfers have a shot at winning a brand new car, if they make a hole in one.
The event was founded and is hosted each year by Keesler Federal Credit Union.
