Gulfport police honor fallen officers at annual memorial ceremony
Gulfport police officers and members of the community gathered Friday morning to pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The department’s annual law enforcement office ceremony serves as a remembrance of those ten Gulfport officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.
Friday’s service included prayers, tributes, and a final call for the fallen officers.
The family of Officer Clifton Tillman also donated his firearm to the Gulfport Police Department Museum.
Tillman was killed in the line of duty on July 3, 1943 and officers say preserving his legacy along with the nine others is important each year.
The ceremony concluded with a reminder that the service and sacrifice of those fallen officers along with the men and women currently serving will never be forgotten.
