Pearl River Softball Earns No. 5 Seed in NJCAA World Series
POPLARVILLE, Miss. – The National Junior College Athletic Association announced its Division II Softball World Series bracket Tuesday afternoon, and the Pearl River Wildcats are headed to the national stage as the No. 5 seed.
This marks a historic milestone for Pearl River, as the Wildcats will be making their first-ever appearance in the NJCAA World Series.
Pearl River punched its ticket with an impressive run through the Gulf South District B Tournament in Poplarville. The Wildcats showcased their dominance throughout the regional, defeating Northeast 10-2 in six innings, taking down Jones College 5-2, and then sealing the championship with a 12-4 run-rule victory over Northeast in five innings.
The NJCAA Division II Softball World Series is set for May 19–24 at Tyger River Park in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Pearl River will open tournament play on May 20 at 10 a.m. Central Time, facing No. 12 seed Johnson County in the opening round as the Wildcats look to continue their historic postseason run.
