Diamondhead residents asked to report damage from Saturday’s rainfall
DIAMONDHEAD, Miss. (WXXV)- Diamondhead city leaders are asking residents to report any storm damage after Saturday morning’s heavy rainfall in the area.
Officials say a large amount of rain fell in a short period of time, causing significant flooding and drainage problems across the city.
Recent dry conditions made the ground less able to absorb water and ongoing MDOT construction near I-10 may have increased runoff in some city neighborhoods.
The city says several areas with recent drainage upgrades cleared relatively quickly once the rain stopped, which suggests those systems work as intended.
If storm water entered your home, Diamondhead is asking you to fill out a damage survey on the city’s website.
