Stennis International Airport in Hancock County awarded grant for upgrades

HANCOCK COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Senator Roger Wicker recently announced $10 million in airport grants heading to the state.

One of those areas receiving the money is Stennis International Airport in Hancock County. A little under $250,000 is being given to reconstruct 315 square yards of the existing aircraft rescue and fire fighting apron.

That apron has reached the end of its useful life. 240 square yards of existing pavement is being rehabilitated to maintain the structural integrity of the pavement and minimize foreign object debris.
