Gulfport Baseball drops game two to split round one series with Oak Grove

The Gulfport Admirals hosted game two of round one of playoffs against Oak Grove. The Admirals won big in Hattiesburg Thursday night with a 6-5 win in nine innings. The Warriors didn’t forget that in game two, scoring three runs both in the first and second inning.

The Admiral bats came alive in the bottom of the second inning. James Van Slyke led of with a single, Taevion Collier reached on a walk, Bash Plummer reaches on a drag bunt and Eli Carter would bring in the first run with an RBI walk. With bases still juiced, eighth grader Tico Hebert drills one into right center field, bringing home Cannon Parker and Plummer. Hebert is barely thrown out trying to stretch it into at triple. The Admirals weren’t finished then after sophomore Mason Little took a ball on a joy ride over the left field fence to get Gulfport within one after a five-run second inning.

Unfortunately for the Admirals that’d be the last time they’d get across the plate as the Warriors force a series split with a final score of 11-5. A rubber match will take place Monday night at Oak Grove with a 7pm first pitch to see who will advance to round two.
