Ocean Springs Baseball drops game one after Petal’s eight-run sixth inning

For the first Class 7A playoff game of the year we’re taking you to Greyhound stadium as the Ocean Springs Greyhounds host the Petal Panthers.

The Panthers got an early lead with Dawson Dykes hitting a leadoff single and scoring on a passed ball. The Greyhounds responded quickly with two runs of their own in the bottom of the first thanks to a leadoff double by AJ Rossi, infield single by Adam Clower, a passed ball, and an RBI single by Easton Bahr. Right-handed Ace Johan Baez would have a webgem of a play on the mound, fielding a ground ball behind the back without looking.

It would remain 3-1 until the fourth inning when the Greyhounds tack on another run. Just six outs away, Petal brings eight runs across the plate in the top of the sixth inning, taking the lead as well as game one with a final score of 9-3. Ocean Springs will look to split the series Friday night with a 7pm first pitch at Petal High School.
