Applications open for USM summer field program
Students at the University of Southern Mississippi are diving into hands-on coastal research this summer. The application window is now open.
The university’s summer field program gives students the chance to combine classroom learning with real-world field experience along the Coast.
The program runs from May 31 through July 31 and includes courses like barrier island ecology, marine invertebrate zoology, and oceanography.
A new course this year aims to expand learning beyond science into the region’s rich history and heritage.
Students also get the opportunity to conduct fieldwork aboard Southern Miss research vessels.
The deadline to apply is May 1. More information can be found here.
