Biloxi man charged in puppy death after turning himself in

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)- A Biloxi man is behind bars, accused of a disturbing case of animal cruelty involving a young puppy.

In new details released over the weekend, police say the suspect turned himself in after an investigation that started with a medical call.

Biloxi police say what started as a routine medical call quickly turned into a criminal investigation.

On April 10 around 6:30 p.m., 33-year-old Bradford Duplantis turned himself into the Biloxi Police Department.

Officers arrested him on an active felony warrant for aggravated cruelty to a dog.

Police say the arrest stems from an incident that happened earlier in the week, but during the investigation, authorities say they discovered evidence that led to much more serious allegations.

Duplantis is charged under Mississippi law with aggravated cruelty to a two-and-a-half-week-old husky puppy.

A justice court judge set his bond at $25,000.

After his arrest, he was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center where he remains in custody.

The investigation is still ongoing, but Biloxi police want to remind everyone that animal cruelty cases can carry serious legal consequences.
