Prescribed burn happening in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Another prescribed burn is happening today in the Mississippi Sandhill Wildlife Crane Refuge.

These types of burns have been happening regularly in the refuge over the past week.

Today’s burn covers an area of 287 acres north of I-10 and south of Seaman Road in Jackson County as crews continue habitat restoration efforts.

If you see smoke in the area of the county today, it’s most likely that prescribed burn.
