Traffic stop in Pearl River County leads to drug arrest

PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- On the evening of Tuesday, March 17, 2026, deputies with the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Department made a drug-related arrest following a routine traffic stop.

At approximately 7:15 p.m., a patrol deputy initiated a stop on a Chrysler 200 traveling along Jackson Landing Road near Lilac Drive due to an expired vehicle tag.

The driver was identified as Steven Thom, 50, of Picayune, Mississippi. During the stop, deputies conducted a search of the vehicle. Authorities reported that methamphetamine and Adderall were discovered during the search.

Thom was taken into custody at the scene. He was subsequently transported to the Pearl River County Correctional Facility, where he was booked and remains incarcerated.

He is currently facing charges of felony possession with intent to distribute and possession of a controlled substance.
