D’Iberville introduces Jason Kennedy as new girls basketball head coach
D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WXXV) — Thursday marked a new era at D’Iberville High School, as the Warriors officially announced the hiring of Jason Kennedy as the school’s next girls basketball coach.
Kennedy has had a successful tenure as a head coach and assistant coach across South Mississippi. He most recently served as a four-year head coach of the St. Martin Lady Yellow Jackets, leading the program to a regional championship and a Class 7A Final Four appearance. Prior to this, he led Pearl High School to the 2019 Class 6A State Championship.
Additionally, Kennedy spent time as a head coach of both the boys and girls basketball programs at Picayune, and he served as an assistant coach at Biloxi High School.
“I’m excited about it,” Kennedy said. “I know that they’ve got a lot of gritty players over here already. It’s kind of a young team, and I’m ready to just get in there and just put them through the fire and watch them work. The biggest deal with us is we’re going to be consistent. We’re going to be consistent every day, and we’re going to work hard every day. I realize that hard work doesn’t always equal success, but without it you don’t stand a chance, so we’re going to get in there and work.”
Kennedy will look to lead the Lady Warriors to the playoffs for the first time since the 2023-2024 season.
