D’iberville wins Class 7A Girls powerlifting State Championship with Eight state records

Some of the strongest girls in the state are competing for the 2026 power lifting State Championship at the Mississippi Coliseum. It’s time now to bring you some results and to show off who’s got girl power!

One thing is for sure is that D’Iberville High School has girl power! The Lady Warriors are your Class 7A Powerlifting State Champions! In the process of earning the title, they also broke eight state records! Members of that team that broke records are Shamyia Penn, Janya Perry, Olivia Wheeler, Makayla Nettles, Caylen Estes (2), Amour Turner and Khilah McLaurin (2)! Congratulations Lady Warriors! The Gulfport Admirals are also your Class 7A State Runners-up!

Four members of the Gautier Gators were on State Championship podiums in Class 6A. The Poplarville Hornets also had three girls take home three medals and all set new person records. Congratulations to all of our local girls that competed in the State Championship!
