77-year-old man dies after space heater fire in D’Iberville
D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (WXXV)- A D’Iberville man was found dead this week after a recent space heater fire in his camper.
The Mississippi Fire Marshal’s Office says the man had been dead for several days before being found.
The fire was reported to authorities around 6 Monday night after neighbors of the man on West Gay Road noticed smoke stains outside the camper and fire damage inside.
The body of 77-year-old George Lee was found inside after authorities arrived.
An investigation revealed the fire was caused by a space heater, which was placed too close to flammable material.
Lee’s death is the 33rd fire related death in Mississippi this year.
