City of Gulfport breaks ground on mixed-use development in downtown area
GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- A 105-million-dollar development project is officially underway in the heart of Downtown Gulfport.
City leaders and developers held a groundbreaking for a mixed-use development named ‘Channel South’ Friday afternoon.
It is located at the historic site of the Great Southern Hotel. The project will transform the area into a modern destination featuring luxury residences, retail shops, and dining options.
Plans also include a 115-room hotel.
State leaders say the development will honor the site’s historic significance while bringing new life and economic growth to Downtown Gulfport.
