Local students helping with revitalization project at Mississippi City Cemetery
Students on the Mississippi Gulf Coast are stepping up to preserve a piece of local history.
Central Elementary and Pass Road Elementary students are teaming up for a revitalization project at the Mississippi City Cemetery.
In the early stages of the project, students are helping build and place benches, clear overgrown areas, and create defined pathways and driving lanes throughout the cemetery.
Organizers say the effort is about more than cleanup, it’s about honoring those who helped shape the community and preserving history for future generations.
Supervisors, students, faculty, and community partners are working together to restore the historic site.
This marks the first phase of a three-part project aimed at bringing the cemetery back to its former glory.
