Man arrested, charged in Jackson County with domestic violence by aggravated assault, kidnapping

JACKSON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- On Monday, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a domestic disturbance/ welfare call concerns in the Gulf Park Estates community.

On scene, deputies found 47-year-old Jeffrey Lynn Nelson had taken an elderly female relative hostage in a bedroom and was threatening bodily harm to her.

Negotiators established communication with Nelson while the Jackson County Emergency Service Unit arrived on scene.

After attempts to have Nelson surrender failed, ESU members breached into the bedroom and took Nelson into custody.

Nelson is being held in the Jackson County Adult Detention Center. He is charged with domestic violence by aggravated assault and kidnapping.

No bail has been set, pending an initial appearance in county court.
