City of Ocean Springs collecting donations for residents impacted by winter weather

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)-The City of Ocean Springs is asking the community to donate items.

These items will be sent to Ashland, helping 650 residents that were hit hard by the recent severe weather.

Mayor Bobby Cox says these residents are mostly older adults living in rural areas and despite help from the Cajun Navy and National Guard, more help is needed.

Items being collected include Visa or Mastercard gift cards, blankets, adult diapers, protein drinks, feminine hygiene products, and basic toiletries.

Donations can be dropped off at all three city fire departments or at city hall. Items will be delivered February 16 or 17.
