Wiggins man sentenced in church arson case in Stone County

Rowold

WIGGINS, Miss. (WXXV)- A Wiggins man convicted last September to setting fire and vandalizing a Stone County church learned that he will spend three decades behind bars.

The 30-year federal prison sentence for 37-year-old Stefan Rowold was handed down after he was found guilty of six counts of arson and Civil Rights charges.

Rowold vandalized and set fire to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Wiggins on two occasions in July 2024.

Evidence at trial showed that Rowold targeted the church because of his animosity toward what he believed to be their religious views.
