13-year-old wanted for aggravated assault in Picayune

PICAYUNE, Miss. (WXXV)- A thirteen-year-old is wanted for aggravated assault in Picayune Monday afternoon.

Around 1:54, officers were dispatched to Lewis Circle in reference to a shooting. According to Picayune Police Department, it appears that multiple rounds were fired by the victim and the suspect with the suspect firing first.

The 16-year-old victim was struck once and sustained serious, but non life threatening injuries.

While officers were on their way to the scene, the 16-year-old victim was transported to Highland Community Hospital by a personal vehicle.

The 13-year-old suspect is wanted for aggravated assault and will be charged as an adult. His name is being withheld until his arrest.

This case is under investigation.
