Cold weather shelter openings for January 26, 2026

In terms of cold weather shelters across our region, we do know some will be open again today.

The Hancock County Shelter in the Kiln will open back up at 8 p.m.

In Harrison County, two shelters will be opening this afternoon as well. In D’Iberville, the Kenny Fournier Multipurpose Building will open at 4:30 p.m.

The Salvation Army Center of Hope will open at 6 p.m. Transportation is available. Call CTA at 228-896-8080.

The Humane Society of South Mississippi has opened a cold weather shelter for pets. If you need to provide your pet with a warm place to stay, you can drop them off at HSSM from 10 a.m.t o 4 p.m. each day through February 1.
