Ocean Springs remains on top of region with 5-0 win over Harrison Central
We’re taking you to some Thursday night light action on the pitch as the Harrison Central Red Rebels host the Ocean Springs Greyhounds for a district match. Both teams held their own from the start with the first 30 minutes remaining scoreless.
Looking to change exactly that, sophomore Captain Alden St. Amant absolutely launching her throw in near the corner all the way to the goal and jumping up is junior Erica Tarpley who heads it in for a Greyhound goal! Ocean Springs struck first with a goal at the 13 minute mark.
Not long after that, sophomore Resse Taylor was fouled inside the box, and the captain made the Red Rebels pay for it immediately with a beautiful penalty kick to the bottom left corner. The blue and white extended their lead to two with nine minutes left in the first half.
Just three minutes later, Taylor guides the 8th grader Mattison Pionk down field and she crosses one over just in front of the net and punching it in is the freshman Brentlee Wark and the Greyhounds pull away three to zero to end the first half and they’d go on to win it all with a final score of five to zero! They now remain on top of the regional standings with nine wins and one loss.
