Two charged for false pretense in Picayune
PICAYUNE, Miss. (WXXV)- The Picayune Police Department is sharing details about two suspects accused of attempting to withdraw money using fraudulent checks.
The incident was discovered on Friday just before noon.
Officers were called to Bank Plus after a person attempted to withdraw money from an account opened with a fraudulent check.
Officers met with Joseph Rice III, Rice was with a William McClain, but McClain had left at the time.
Rice attempted the same thing on January 14 at another Bank Plus branch, opening an account with a fraudulent $2,000 check and withdrawing $1,900 the same day.
Rice tried to withdraw money on January 15 through the same account in Gulfport, but a hold was placed on the account.
Rice had come to Picayune and tried to withdraw $3,700. He was arrested for false pretense and conspiracy to commit false pretense.
Charges are pending and warrants will soon be active for McClain for the same charges.
