Lynn Meadows Discovery Center opens aquaculture exhibit

GULFPORT, Miss. (WXXV)- Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport officially cut the ribbon on its new exhibit ‘Aquaponics in Action.’

The exhibit teaches kids and families about sustainable food systems by demonstrating how fish and plants grow together through shared water and nutrient systems.

The aquaculture exhibit is housed in a shipping container and was made possible through a partnership with Southern Miss’ Thad Cochran Marine Aquaculture Center, Symbiotic, and the Gulf Blue Initiative.

Project leaders say its purpose is to inspire learning through STEM while introducing children to aquaculture, sustainability, and emerging blue economy career pathways.

The exhibit will be open to view at the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center during business hours.
