Jackson County man sentenced on child sex crimes charges

Brian Bergeron will spend 30 years behind bars on child sex crimes charges (JCSO)

A Jackson County man will spend three-decades behind bars for sexually abusing a minor.

21-year-old Brian Bergeron pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual battery and seven counts of exploitation of a child, and was sentenced in Jackson County Circuit Court this week to 50 years, with 30 to be served in MDOC custody, and 20 years on post-release supervision.

The investigation began back in August 2022, when the minor told her father that Bergeron had been touching her inappropriately.

The girl also told investigators in detail what Bergeron had done to her, and said the acts had gone on for over a year.

At the time of his arrest, Bergeron admitted to the abuse, and was also in possession of photographs of the abuse on his cell phone.

As a result of his sentencing, Bergeron will not be eligible for early release or parole.
