Internet Auction for Zimmerman’s Gun

George Zimmerman was acquitted of second-degree murder in the 2012 shooting death of Trayvon Martin. This morning, in an internet posting, the pistol used to kill the 17-year-old is online and is allegedly up for auction.
The posting says Zimmerman writes: “I am honored and humbled to announce the sale of an American firearm icon. The firearm for sale is the firearm that was used to defend my life and end the brutal attack from Trayvon Martin.”
The webpage says bidding for the gun is set to begin at $5,000. It claims Zimmerman calls the pistol “a piece of American history.”
The firearm has long been in the custody of the Justice Department until recently when it was returned to Zimmerman.
