Merit Health donates to local charities

Merit Health Biloxi donated more than $300,000 to local charities today.
Contributions totaling $310,250 were given to local organizations and education programs with medically driven missions.
Bethesda Free Clinic, Women’s Resource Center, and the Mississippi Center for Autism are just some of the organizations awarded several thousand dollars to their causes. Merit Health Biloxi CEO Rob Calhoun said, “All these organizations have different driving missions. Some of them treat clinical illnesses, some of them treat different gaps as far as people not being able to get meals and food. Other ones treat different disease processes so it touches on a lot of different spectrums of healthcare. For us as a community driver for healthcare, we walk to be able to support those vulnerable populations and people that need those types of care.”
Since 2003, Merit Health Biloxi and the board of trustees have donated close to seven million dollars back to the community.
