Motorized scooters banned on some streets in Poplarville

POPLARVILLE, Miss. (WXXV)- The City of Poplarville is cracking down on the use of motorized scooters on some city streets.

The board of alderman adopted an ordinance banning the use of these scooters on public roads and sidewalks in areas of the city zoned for commercial use.

In a letter sent to Poplarville residents, Mayor Louise Smith cited the speeds of some of these scooters and other safety risks as the reason the ordinance was adopted.

The ordinance took effect immediately after it was passed by the board.
