Proud moment for father and son in Diamondhead
It was a family affair at City Hall in Diamondhead during the inauguration ceremony.
Mississippi State Senator Philip Moran had the unique honor to stand by his son, Alan Moran, as he took the oath of office to become a member of Diamondhead City Council. It was a proud moment for both father and son as Senator Moran was also the keynote speaker during the ceremony.
The Moran household has always been involved in politics. Alan started watching his father on the board of supervisors at five-years-old. “I had a head for it,” said Alan Moran, “You know, it’s kind of a family tradition, but I didn’t expect it to come so soon.”
Senator Moran said, “It’s a very humbling experience like I said today to be here for the inauguration and the swearing in of my son. It’s not every day you get the chance to do something like that and I am so very, very proud of him and I know he will do well.”
Alan told News 25 that at only 29-years-old he is ready to join his father and four other new councilmembers in the efforts to make Diamondhead and Mississippi the best they can.
