2026 Election Qualifying Period begins in Mississippi

Friday marked the start of the qualifying period for Mississippi’s 2026 judicial elections.

Candidates can begin filing petitions and qualifying statements for several judicial offices including the court of appeals, chancery court judge, circuit court judge, county court judge, and Mississippi Levee Commission.

The qualifying deadline for judicial offices is February 2 at 5 p.m. Those races will appear on the November 3 General Election Ballot.

For candidates seeking a seat on the Mississippi Levee Commission, the qualifying deadline is May 4 at 5 p.m., with those races appearing on the June 2 Mississippi Levee Board General Election Ballott.
