Safe driving tips for the New Year’s holiday

As many of you prepare to ring in the new year, now is a good time to remember the principles of sober and safe driving.

Many of our local Coast law enforcement agencies will have heightened presence on the road New Year’s Eve with the possibility of public safety checkpoints in some areas.

Mississippi Highway Patrol’s New Year holiday enforcement period also begins at 6 Wednesday morning and will run through midnight Thursday.

There are things you can do to have a safe holiday including setting a designated driver or using ride share service.
