Mississippi Highway Patrol concludes holiday travel period

Mississippi Highway Patrol’s Christmas travel enforcement period has ended and MHP officials have now released statewide numbers.

From December 23 to midnight Friday, troopers issued a total of 4,130 citations across the state. Sixty-nine arrests were made for impaired driving and 477 motorists were cited for restraint violations.

State troopers responded to a total of 195 crashes which lead to 47 injuries and two deaths in Lauderdale and Lincoln counties.

At this time, both fatal crashes are under investigation.

These numbers are slightly down compared to 2024’s Christmas travel enforcement period.
