Mario King Inauguration Ceremony

It’s Inauguration Day for the new mayor of Moss Point, Mario King.
Hundreds gathered in honor of Mario King, officially swearing in as the new mayor of Moss Point. It was a ceremony to remember, the community reminiscing on past memories and honoring the fallen alderman, Linwood Grierson, adding a touch of personal engagement.
Something that King is most passionate about which is getting the community involved, part of his five pillar platform. “Community engagement, health community, public safety, education, everything, but what we really want to focus on is accountability. We want to make sure we’re an accountable administration, a transparent administration. An administration that’s ready to go and get it and do it.”
After embezzlement within City Hall landed several officials in hot water, King aims to organize the River City’s funds as quickly as possible. “We want to make sure we’re accountable by getting the finances in order, making sure that by October one we can create a competent and supportive budget that’s going to be great for the community.”
Eager to also lend a helping hand in the community is the new first lady of Moss Point, Natasha King, ready to rejuvenate the city together. “The First Lady Program is just the difference of a couple of different things that’s going to be under healthy community, so working out with our senior population, helping younger mothers with their children, and just different fun things around the community.”
Now that all the hard work from campaigning is in the books, King plans to work equally as hard throughout his term for each resident in the River City.
