Poplarville Hornets eyeing back-to-back state titles as they head into South State matchup

POPLARVILLE, Miss. (WXXV) — The Poplarville Hornets are looking to defend their 2024 4A State Championship in Starkville next weekend, but first, they’ll face a tough test as they travel to take on the undefeated Columbia Wildcats for the South State title.

The Hornets are 8-4 on the season and have only grown stronger as the year has gone on, picking up key wins over Forrest County AHS, Forest High School and McComb in the first three rounds of the playoffs.
