Suspect dead in Sunday officer-involved shooting in George County

GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)- Sunday night deputies with the George County Sheriff’s Department attempted to serve an arrest warrant that turned deadly.

The incident happened before 7:15 on Blackberry Lane in Lucedale. Police say that Nicholas Parker barricaded himself inside the home. At one point, he approached the door with what police say appeared to be a weapon.

For the safety of all involved, the Jackson County SWAT team was requested for assistance.

Parker opened fire on law enforcement.

That’s when officers with the SWAT team opened fire, killing the suspect. No officers were injured.

As with all officer-involved shootings in Mississippi, the Mississippi Bureau of Investigations is taking the lead in this case.
