Local leaders discuss response plans at annual Disaster Leadership Conference

BILOXI, Miss. (WXXV)-Municipal leaders from five southern states are on the Coast this week to talk new strategies when it comes to recovery from natural disasters.

The Disaster Leadership Conference is a project by the Mississippi Department of Insurance, along with sister departments in Louisiana, Tennessee, Arkansas, and Alabama.

Wednesday’s schedule at Beau Rivage featured a panel with city leaders, as well as a panel with insurance commissioners as they all work to tackle issues such as insurance rates, effective disaster coordination, and breaking down recent weather events in the south.

The conference is set to wrap up Thursday afternoon.
