Man sentenced for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute in Harrison County
HARRISON COUNTY, Miss. (WXXV)-A Florida man will spend nearly 30 years behind bars in the Mississippi prison system after pleading guilty to drug charges stemming from a 2023 traffic stop.
Forty-seven-year-old Damarte Epps will serve his sentence on the charge of possession of cocaine with intent to distribute without the possibility of parole or early release.
Epps was stopped by a sheriff’s deputy on I-10 in Harrison County in February 2023 for traffic violations and appeared nervous to the responding deputy.
A subsequent K9 search of his rental car revealed two kilos of cocaine in the cargo area.
Epps’ prior criminal history played a factor during his sentencing in Harrison County Circuit Court.
