OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (WXXV)- The Ocean Springs Police Department is warning residents about jail bond scams.

The department says they have received reports of scammers claiming to be deputies, saying they have a family member in jail.

The caller tells the victim to go to a kiosk or location to pay bond money.

Residents are reminded that law enforcement will never call and ask for a fine or bond to be paid over the phone.

If you do receive a call like this, you are advised not to provide any personal or financial information.

You should hang up immediately and call the actual police to confirm any claims.
