One dead after Amtrak train collides with vehicle in Gautier
GAUTIER, Miss. (WXXV)- One person is dead after a fatal Amtrak crash in Jackson County.
The train struck a vehicle at a crossing on Ladnier Road in Gautier Thursday night, killing the driver. The driver has been identified as 40-year-old Tavarios Johnson.
Police say the crossing arms were down at the time of the crash and were working properly, but Johnson allegedly drove around the arms.
No injuries were reported aboard the train.
This is the second deadly accident involving Amtrak’s train on the Coast after two people were killed at a crossing in Pass Christian in September.
