Remembering Officer Katie Cash
The funeral service for Officer Katie Cash was held Saturday at Picayune’s First Baptist Church.
Following the service, a procession traveled from Picayune to Waveland Cemetery where she was laid to rest.
Cash died July 18th in a car crash on Highway 603 in Hancock County. The 33-year-old graduated from the law enforcement academy just two days prior.
Family, friends, and fellow law enforcement officers all showed up to pay their respects. Cash’s oldest daughter, Josie Smith, said that she wants people to remember her mom for her courage, bravery, and kindness. “Her courage for sure. Her passion for becoming a police officer. She was very kind and sweet and she loved her family.”
Smith’s grandmother, Judith Smith, says the family is looking for all the prayers they can get during this time.
