Nonprofit food bank fighting hunger across the state

A statewide nonprofit food bank is working to fight hunger amid the government shutdown and a pause in SNAP benefits for the month of November.

Extra Table is putting out a call for financial support. The organization serves nine to ten food pantries on the Mississippi Gulf Coast alone and spends $95,000 a month statewide.

The organization is prepping for its Holiday Bird campaign which is an effort to donate 9,000 whole chickens to food pantries across Mississippi.
